LaVerne Lewis-Campbell, BSN RN-BC

LaVerne Lewis-Campbell was born in Idabel Oklahoma to Reatha and O.V. Lewis on June 30, 1950. She attended Elementary, High school, College and Nursing School in Amarillo, Texas. She married Donnell Campbell and they relocated to Fort Worth where they have raised 2 children. They have 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grands. She has been a member of Beth Eden BC for 45 years where she is a certified teacher and a long time Church Trustee.

LaVerne Campbell is a Registered Nurse with over 45 years experience as a nurse with a wide range of expertise from Critical Care Nursing, Nursing Orientation, and Director of Nursing in Home Health Care and has served as NursingInstructor at Concorde Career College where she taught Anatomy and Physiology and Foundations in Nursing. 

LaVerne has ministered in the role of nurse mentor and preceptor to countless nursing students and graduate nurses. LaVerne volunteers as a Nurse Educator with the American Cancer Society educating women in local churches on the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the ABC’s of breast health.  She also has volunteered as an Ambassador with the American Diabetes Association’s “Power Project” targeting the African American church community on prevention, treatment and living with diabetes.

LaVerne has served as chair of ADA’s “Choose to Live” program where emphases are placed on educating African American woman on caring for themselves as they care for their families. LaVerne is an active member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, a Professional Nursing Organization where over 8,000 nurses hold membership. She is the current President of Lambda Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Ph. In addition, she has received numerous awards and recognitions such as Nurse of the Year, Sorority Member of the Year and Woman of the Year (awarded by her Church).  

LaVerne is the current Director of the Beth Eden Church Health Ministry. She is also a Faith Community Nurse, a program sponsored by Texas Health Resources designed to improve the health and wellness within the faith communities.

LaVerne feels truly blessed that God chose her to serve Him in serving others. Her mission in life is to promote health and wellness in everyone she encounters.
